Michael Schachner is Operations Manager at itim International. He’s a true world citizen, having lived in Austria (his native country), the US, Spain, the Czech Republic and Finland. His belief is that you have to live and work with people from different cultural backgrounds in order to understand how the world works.
Michael has a degree in Economics and International Business. He also studied Political Science and if time had allowed, he would have studied linguistics, too! His thesis with the title “What makes Students Study Abroad” was published as a book in 2008. He speaks German, English, Spanish, a bit of French and even a smaller bit of Finnish.
Michael moved to Finland in 2007, where he now lives with his family. He worked as Project Manager for the IT company FeedbackDialog and he has been working with itim since 2012. Being certified in Organizational Culture and Intercultural Management, he is now responsible of maintaining and developing cultural tools for itim and The Hofstede Centre. The coordination of the itim network, organizing conferences and certification courses are also among his responsibilities.
